I thought vegetable oil originally, but it could do powdered coal too.
Remarkably versatile. I hate to think what the mineral deposits in coal would
do to the bores though.

I'm not sure whether a coal fueled engine was ever built but the
original Diesel design showed such a system.

Somewhere in my fuzzy memory, I remember reading something about some very
early attempts at an IC engine using gunpowder as a fuel. Boy, imagine the
detonation problem!

I might find "pre-detonation" a little more troubling. Talk about
