I don't claim to know how it works, but as I said both Deja news and
google, who bought their usenet archive, both posted
the number of subscribers to each group

Actually if a person really knew what Luddites were really all about the
place should be packed. Luddites got a bad rap,
what they were protesting was not the machines, but the drastic change
to their lifestyle. Most worked from home, much like
webmasters do today, had a garden plot, some chickens etc..and were
basically self sufficient. I'd be pissed too if I had to go
from working 4-5 hours a day to be locked in a factory 14 hours a day
for less money than when I was self employed.;~)
