There's an inference that people who post on a topic know something about it.

This is clearly a newbie who hasn't considered the simplest basics who needs to
be educated.

Starting with 'towers' is a very wrong place to be.

This is why newbie stay away from this newsgroup. If all you get is the
elitist posting than the group needs be taken off the internet. Whether
the posting are top post or bottom is for old farts and people who
"think" they know everything about a subject and have appointed
themselves as administrator of the newsgroup . Yes , it make it easy to
read if its bottom posted but who want to scroll down to where the next
person posted (long paragraph which you already read ). This is the
quickest way for any group to die. Newbie need to learn all the in's and
out's without getting jump on for asking a dumb question. Starting off
with a tower question is not dumb. The tower "just" might be the one
thing that prevents a person from having a wind turbine installed.

Best answer to that is to trim text, leaving just enough quoted text to
maintain context. Just as I did above. Then it is unlikely that anyone will
need to scroll, yet the discussion flows naturally. (At least, that is how I
usually do it.)

This is not a religious thing with me, there are situations where a top post
is perfectly appropriate.

I stand castigated, not least through my misinterpretation.

If a new poster wants good advice (as is available) they should at least give
some
basic background to their plan such as .. " I have a .... what is the best way
to "
type enquiry.

Anyone care to defer ?

Could you supply a name of a crank up tower.

Stop whining. You couldn't be bothered to Google the search term I
gave you.
