The Bergey grid-tie unit appears to be 10kW, 22' rotor diameter
compared to 2kW and 12' for the Skystream (3.4 times less swept area).
There's obviously going to be a substantial difference in tower,
installation requirements, and price. You'll need to do a full
cost-benefit analysis to decide which is better for you. BTW, those
two are grid-tie only, but you can connect *any* turbine to the grid
if you use a battery-based grid-tie inverter setup. Which would give
you backup power as well.

Yes there is quite a difference in price , around 10,000 .

Could you supply a name of a crank up tower.

EZ-Way towers, Aluma Towers and others. (Not sure of formatting of EZ-Way name,
but I am close) Look on amateur radio boards for used, such as;
http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?t=162745 or the usual web resources for
new.

Remember that a wind turbine will present a high wind load to the tower. You
will likely need guy wires even if the tower is advertised as "self supporting".
