 Well I hooked it up and let her rip.

Aiming the jets and keeping them on target seems to be last major issue
to overcome.

I got the new alternator turning about about 3-400 RPM making around 8
volts -- keep in mind this is while I"m holding both jet pipes and
screwing around with them till it made the highest voltage.

Its pretty hard to do by yourself aiming jets and reading the meter.
Keep in mind its raining and blowing like crazy .. first real storm of
the season.

My first attempt at jet aiming hardware wasn't so hot, so i'm going to
version 2.

stuff to consider:

1) Need to get some flexible pipe to feed the jets, rather than ridgid
PVC. Then I'll be able to set them a lot easier.

2) Need to get a voltage controller/diverter installed (right now I just
have a small one for the solar panels). If I ran it into the one I have
now i'd be pretty iffy, and with no load diversion i'd risk over charging
.. plus i'll need blocking diods added for the solar.

3) Alternator Break in Period: according to the manufacturer the
alternator needs to run for a while in order to get settled and will
begin to spin with less resistance (so hopefully I can still hit the 800-
1000 RPM mark with it broken in and the jets aimed just right, which is
the goal).

So proof of concept.. I made power. Didn't do anything with it -- didn't
make much of it -- but it was there!!

So, get a resistor (lightbulbs, etc) to provide a non-voltage-picky
load, stick on some sort of jet aiming that at least sorta kinda works
while you let go of it, and let the sucker run for a while.

sounds like a plan. Looks like we're at the ass end of this storm so
hopefully things will calm down for the rest of this week. Didn't really
want to screw around with electricity out there -- even at such low voltage
:)

Thanks JERD .. yeah I sure hope it works. Need to wait for another pay
check to finish getting some parts I need, but after that it should be
helping power the house!
