HI there;

I am planning to build a new, small (1000 sq ft with half loft) and
passive solar home on 144 acres. Of course it will face south, and I
will have covered verandah on three sides and I will use slab on grade
foundation as thermal mass. Though some have tried to encourage me to
install in floor heating (propane fired), I am thinking that 25,000.00
is an awful lot of money to spend on a heating system. Currently, I
have a great woodstove and a few baseboard heaters (whihc rarely some
on). I also have a 1440 watt photovoltaic system (Which I am VERY
pleased with by the way). So....I am also looking at a cansolair solar
air heater. Has anyone here installed one?

I would love any input regarding these ideas, masonary stoves, good
windows etc. Someone advised that I might also be able to get in touch
with Nick Pines on this site who allegedlt is 'the guy".

Thanks all...great site.

Sounds like you have a lot of good ideas already.

I would check the cost of floor heating using water circulated in a
masonary stove.

Perhaps install the pipe-work for floor heating system
in the concrete slab - for future considerations.

Where will it be?

Sounds like direct gain, aka direct loss...
