You have to find a local company that can do it. I don't think
there are any national companies that do this, but I haven't
researched it very much.

A lot of people are making money leasing back the power to their
utilities
that their solar panels are making. It has to be OK'd by your local
utility company.

At a MASSIVE tax loss.

Yeah - about that tax thing...

My understanding is that there are corporations that buy the
equipment, then take both investment tax credit and accelerated
depreciation.
I can see how THEY can make money - with a guaranteed revenue stream -
but, how does it compare with buying the equipment outright from the
viewpoint of the consumer?

If I was going to pay someone to install solar panels I think I'd either go
with an established solar company or an experienced electrician and avoid
places like Lowe's or Home Depot.

I'm not sure what you mean by "lease back" but yesterday I was reading about
a company that started about two years ago that basically rents the solar
panels to you. They require a $500 "security" deposit. Well, from what I
read they were going to have the "world's largest" solar panel manufacturing
plant but that was two years off. My take was that they were going around
getting people to sign leases and the $500 was venture capitol. So, you
paid your money and maybe in a couple of years someone might show up and
install your panels assuming they didn't go bankrupt before then. Hopefully
they had a lot more working capitol than a bunch of $500 deposits.
