In BC last week, I was picked up by a Prius that had
180k miles on it. There was no barrier between driver
and passenger, and I rode in the right front seat.
It felt a new Prius, with no squeak or rattle after 180k
miles on BC streets. The driver told me that the car had
never undergone servicing other than scheduled
maintenance and repair of a dented fender. I asked him
how long the car would remain in service, and he said
something like "until it is uneconomical" - and laughed,
adding "maybe a long time".
