If you feel secure driving on an Interstate highway with "a few inches
of snow" you should re-think the whole thing. Firstly, unless you are
the very first car to travel the highway since the snow fell, that's
not snow. It is packed ice. Driving on show or ice in any vehicle is
intrinsically dangerous. It cannot be made safe, only less dangerous,
and that is by driving slowly and avoiding the fast lane where one is
most likely to be hit head-on by an oncoming tractor-trailer or SUV or
even another Prius whose driver felt secure and took unnecessary risks.
