I just bought a new Prius with Package 7. This supposedly includes HID
headlights. The manual shows the headlight switch as having an "automatic"
position (position 3) in which the lights are turned on automatically at
dark and turned off in daylight. My Prius does not have a 3-position
headlight switch. I got very accustomed to the automatic headlights in my
2000 Camry and would like that feature.

Yeah, I know, how much trouble can it be to re-learn to manually turn on
and off my headlights.!!

P.S. - How can I tell if the headlights are truly HID units?

P.S.#2 - I LOVE THE CAR.

Good grief. That error has been in the manual for at least two years now.
I was told the language applies to the Canadian version of the Prius. I had
the same issue with my 2005. You would think they would have their act
together by now. If your headlights produce a whiter light, they are HID.
Glad you like your Prius. I sure do enjoy mine.

If you see oncoming vehicles veering off the road with their drivers
screaming "Agggh... My eyes ! My eyes !" then you know you've got HID
headlights.

If that's true, I'm in trouble with my little ol' Prius.
