I'm seeking recommendations for a 20-25kw diesel standby generator.
Trailer mounted, sound proofed etc.
Any comparisons of CAT-Perkins versus Cummins Onan?
Any other recommendations.
Thanks!
Phil

Very few, if any of the US Diesel OEM's are using their own engine
designs in this power range these days. Most are using engines from
Japan, and Korea, as primemovers. I think the smallest CAT Engine made
is the 3204, which is in the 200Kw range. Same with Cummins, and John
Deere. Isuszu used to make a dandy 4 Cyl 20Kw unit, but dropped it
a year ago. I just put in a NEW Northern Lights 20Kw last winter,
that is a very nice quiet machine, based on a Japanese Engine mated
to a Lima Genend.

Multi-quip, Aggreko not sure about the spelling on the second one
Aggreko WILL be more expensive, and silent.
Multi-quip is a rental machine.

I work in New York City and I think I saw what you want. It was towed
by a truck and it was a CAT-Perkins on a trailer. The interesting thing
is on the truck and trailer it read "CAT-Perkins Entertainment
Services". I think they were doing a film shoot and needed some more
power for lights etc. The generator was very very quiet. Maybe you
simply ask for what they use themselves.
best, Mike.
