A Net Metering example for the State of Maryland.
Maryland Wind Power Electricity Provider, Clean Currents[1],
will purchase Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) that
are produced within the state of Maryland. Payment is based
on One (1) SREC = 1000 KWh of electricity generated by
the PV system. Clean current exchange pays 69% yearly
at a rate specified by the Maryland Alternative Compliance
Payment Schedule (ACP). In 2010, the ACP/SREC is $400,
so Clean Current would pay 69% of the ACP/SREC which
would be $292 for each 1000kwh produced and transmitted
through net metering to Clean Current. Clean Current
and the PV system owner would enter a two year
contract inwhich, at the end of each year, Clean Current
would payout the PV system's owner for each SREC the
PV system generated.
