For those who may be interested, and following a post by me some months
back, I have raised my Air-X by an additional 2 metres.

Was any improvement noted for the increase in height? Did the power
output increase from 200 watts to 210 watts?
Or are the reported testes from Paul Geise (sp?) all bullshit like
many suspect.
I would like to hear more on this.

While this is far from 'scientific' there is no doubt in my mind that the
increase in height has resulted in the unit capturing more wind and rotating
faster and more often.
The Air-X is now at level #2 and I will now be commencing some data
logging - wind direction, wind speed Vs power output from the Air-X. I have
an automated data logging weather station and am currently setting up a data
logging ampmeter to measure the Air-X output current. Now it is becoming
more scientific!
I will log these results over some time before I move the Air-X to it's
final height, another 2 metres higher and the maximum the local building
code will allow without special permits.

Chances are I have one you don't.

Sounds great! Testing results from these units is very rare and good
for people to know, especially on such a popular unit, available
everywhere.
Some of the smaller units with a smooth high-tech looking profile
would be more acceptable in urban communities. The 1kW units I have is
a little rough looking for dense areas IMHO but I have an acre and it
affords a bit of forgiveness with some space. Trouble is I only have a
20 foot tower and with house beginning to populate the street (rural
setting) the clear wind avenues are beginning to become nonexistent. I
can't seem to keep the blades balanced despite four good bolts and
heavy steel plates sandwiching each blade. An open phase presented
some fear in my heart when we had 110 kph winds one night. I moved the
car away!...LOL

This is great.. I remember your post from several months back because I
thought the tracking method for your solar panels was pretty neat.
I too would be interested in seeing the results of some long-term data
logging. There's a guy near me who has two of those and he has them mounted
on his sundeck in a non-optimal position (the Air-X that is) and I have been
curious as to what kind of power they are capable of generating in a
real-world situation.
Keep us posted.
