I have recently acquired an electric scooter which I would like to use
as local transportation.
My problem is it has four rechargeable 12v batteries all hooked up
together in its chassis and
I need to find a way to charge them with out spending a ton of dough
on a 48v power converter.
Does any one have any ideas on where I could look to figure this
out.Thanks

You could probably charge them one at a time with a 12V charger. Or you
could put four 12V chargers in series (or each across one battery). Or
you could install a switch/relay that puts the batteries in parallel
while charging rather than in series. Or you could look for a used 48V
charger.

Buy a 50v transformer need not be heavy
for trickle charge, and a couple of diodes and small capacitor. simple
enough to put together, fuse your plug to suit.
