Reminds "Me" of the time the US Army was trying to use the trees in
Vietnam, as vertical Radiators for the HF and low VHf Radio Packsets.
They had a whole slew of antenna designers, contracted to build an
antenna tuner that would make the tall Tropical Trees into antennas
for jungle communications. Didn't work then, and doesn't work now,
but they spent a pile of money trying......

While antennae need a metal component, the trees in this article
merely act as convenient wire holders.
They certainly are capable of doing that job.

Well no, actually the tree is acting as a primative and inefficient battery.
Main problem is you need a truck to transport them about if you want to use
them in your PDA, Laptop or mibile phone. I can't see them catching on

When you put the tree batteries in series it is hard to
keep all but one ungrounded to avoid short circuits.
People get tired holding them in the air sometimes.

Still I suppose they could be used to power LED fairy lights at Christmas :)
