Dear newsgroup members,

We currently have a poll on the following question running at
SustainabilityForum.com:

"If there were electric car recharging points within 10 minutes of
your departure/destination and the travel distance within the range of
the car, would you consider using an electric car for your daily
commute/frequent journey?"

A friend of mine is doing research on the topic of electric cars and
would very much welcome your opinion on this question. And the more
opinions the better!

Thank for your time and effort.

See you in the forum.

Who has an hour to recharge a car every ten minutes?

First off, how is it sustained?  What fuel is used to create the electricity
to charge the battery on the car?  Coal perhaps?  Some kind of petroleum
product?  Would it not be more effecient the just burn the fuel directly?
What becomes of the old, worn-out batteries?  Where does the copper come
from to make the motors?  Is it recycled copper or from strip mines?  Can
you prove to me that using an electric car actually reduces pollution,
including air and ground contamination?

I *might* consider an electric car when they make 'em 4WD with a 200 mile
cruising range and the equivelent of about 230 HP and I can charge it using
solar or wind power and I'm guaranteed that no birds are gonna get chopped
to pieces by the wind generators..

Can you prove to me or anybody that windmills chop birds? That's more
ridiculous than the electric car and there are stats to prove it.

So, are you saying that there are stats to prove that windmills don't chop
up birds?  I've never seen a bird chopped up by a wind generator but I've
read that it happens.  That's pretty much (other than the govment) the only
thing that would make me want to not have a wind generator.  So, if you can
convince me otherwise...
