Well, there is this...
http://www.fuelcellsworks.com/Supppage6011.html
: With support from the Federal and Ontario Governments as part of GM
: Canada's Beacon Project (announced in March 2005) GM's engineering
: centre in Oshawa Ontario is playing a key engineering role in the
: conversion of more than 100 Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles
Read that as, GM is getting paid by various government agencies to
convert existing vehicles to run off fuel cells. How much money is
GM spending or is it all being paid for by the taxpayers?
:...the Equinox Fuel Cell is a fully-functional crossover vehicle,
: engineered for an 80,000 km life.
I guess once you hit 50,000 Miles you need to buy a new car. :)
Funny, I actually know people that drive more than this in one year.
There is also this little tidbit...
http://www.commutercars.com/h2/
: BMW, ...plans to have a fleet of 100 hydrogen vehicles on the road
: in the 1990s

For what reason ?
Where are the cheap hydrogen pumps ?

"Today's fuel cells generate power at a cost of greater than $2,000 per
kilowatt, compared with $35 per kilowatt for the internal combustion
engine, so they are more than 10 times more expensive than conventional
automotive technology," Agrawal said. "At the same time, fuel cells
have an operating lifetime for cars of less than 1,000 hours of driving
time, compared with at least 5,000 hours of driving time for an
internal combustion engine.
"That means fuel cells wear out at least five times faster than
internal combustion engines. If I buy a new car, I expect it to last,
say, 10 years, which equates to about 3,000 hours of driving time. If
my fuel cell only lasts 1,000 hours, you can see that's not very
practical."
