Hello everyone,

I hope this subject sort of pertains to homepower.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of the gas pill. A pill you add to
a tank of gas to extend the mileage.

I know from past reading that this idea isnt new. But with the gas
issue lately my brother mentioned it.

I wanted to know if anyone has ever used these pills?
Do they work?
Are they safe for your car?

If this subject doenst fit with this forum...please disregard.....

Thanks,

Hoopy

It's a large number of substances that can be added to gasoline to increase
the energy of gasoline combustion, therefore increasing mileage.

It's a much shorter list of substances that have no deleterious effects (to
engine life, exhaust systems, human health, fuel systems, pollution, etc.)

The list of substances that can do all of the above, without increasing your
running cost per mile, is a very short, or non-existent list, as far as I
know.

I should like to be wrong.

Actually, this ducks the issue. Which IMHO is to continuously
decelerate oil consumption.
What works for that goal:
1. energy-efficient vehicles (lotsa room there)
2. minimizing mileage driven (walking is good, as is municipal design
that encourages reduced use of fuel-sucking vehicles.
3. driving as though energy was a finite resource. For small speed
variations, x% higher speed yields 2x% more aerodynamic drag- think
hummers and expeditions and tahoes here.

Someday we gotta get real.

I've been doing an experiment with my 94 TransSport. Not going over
2500RPM on shifts, and taking it easy getting there.Cruising at 90Kph
(1500rpm). I've gone through less than 1/2 tank in 396km - in normal
driving that is almost a tank. This is on regular gas. Next tank will
be mid premium.

I've tried them - they didn't work in 1989, and they won't work today.
