Brand new. On first try very hard to start. Then started and ran
great. I shut it down and about 10 minutes later tried to start. Would
not start and backfired. Did this twice. Little help from Generac. Any
ideas?

You probably won't get much help here, providing no more information than that.
We
can't read your mind.
Tell us what you've done to diagnose the problem. Define "very hard to start".
Is
your gas fresh and clean? Have you drained the carb float bowl to look for
trash or
water? Have you dropped the bowl and blown out the jets with compressed or
canned
air? What does the sparkplug look like? white, brown, black, wet, dry? Did the
engine smoke when it started? Black or blue? Any strange noises? Are you
electric
starting it or pulling a cord? What cranking procedure did you use? How many
pulls/cranks with the choke on and with it off? Have you gone through the
troubleshooting matrix in the owner's manual?
Give us a bit more information than just "I have a generator that won't start"
and
maybe we can help.

Return it to where you purchased it from and ask for it to be repaired
or replaced. Thats what a warranty is for.
