Per mg:

Thanks - bc I know in my heart that I'm gonna toast the thing if
I keep spraying starting fluid into the carb to start it.

Now I'm around to leaving gas in the tank all the time - albeit
maybe with some Stabil added - and just running it for N minutes
and shutting it off.   That should  get around the empty float
bowl or whatever it is that makes starting hard after being run
dry.

That might actually be a better idea. I'm going to have to think about
it. What I do, though, is pull VERY, VERY GENTLY on the cord and close
my eyes and pray a little bit (the praying part is very important I
think) and it always starts. It waits until just before you're ready
to give up (I think it knows) and then it roars to life.     :-)   :-)

Just put the choke on full. It starts second pull everytime.

That doesn't work with my EU2000. It probably works, though, if the
generator hasn't been run out of gas and stored for 3 months.

I was referring to running out of gas. Set the choke on full and pull
the cord. It sucks more gas through faster by limiting the air intake.
The next pull it usually starts. May take three. Without the choke on
you pull a long time.
