The title says it all;

Can anyone help me with the information.

I have been given a Honda Generator ED700 (12V / 24V / 32V @ 20 A)

The engine has Rope-start, but there is supposed to be a battery (to
supply magnet-field current, I presume).

I did not recieve any battery. I can physically meassure the place to
put it (like a bike battery in size).

But what Voltage should it be, and what capacity (VA)

Besides, this gen. is slightly old (painted blue...)

Many thanks for any help!

Many manuals are available on the Honda site
http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/Gen_Own_Web/g_own.htm   for free download, but
unfortunately I don't see the ED700.  Is the ED1000 similar?

Thanks for the suggestion (though I had already checked this one...)
No, ED1000 is not alike ED700 at all!   - As the 700 is older (60's
style we now know  :-)
there is not much of the modern that is similar...

Any suggestions from anyone who has one, or one alike it would be
appreciated.

I guess there is some battery loading in this circuit, so if I cant
find any answer, I will eigher have to dismantle and see if there is
anything in the circuit that might give a clue (like a Zener-diode...),
or else, use a variable supply, connect it in series with a diode, and
give say 6V and try to push the "take up voltage"-button. If it goes
up, I can messure what charging voltage the set tryes to put on the
battery!
