Had a new panel put in some months ago and it's finally dawned on me that the
thing hums fairly loudly.
My sense is that some component in there normally vibrates at 60 cycles and it's
somehow touching the body of the box turning it into a sounding board.
Before I open this thing up, though, I'd like to hear some thoughts...
Is there any one component that is probably the source of the vibration?

Sounds like a bad breaker. Most are Magnetic and thermal these days. Flip em
off one by one.
Cheers

Do you have a doorbell transformer or equivalent fastened to the
panel? (low voltage control transformer, etc)

Bingo!
Doorbell transformer.
Partially obscured by the front cover's overhang... attached to one of those
pop-out holes.
Thanks!
