Hi all -
We purchased a used Onan 12KW (I think) genset a while ago from which
the previous owner removed the nameplate prior to repainting it - and
then never re-attached the data.
It would be helpful for us if we could identify the unit to get spare parts.
It's a 4-cylinder propane/natural gas genset that gives us 60Hz at 1800
rpm. The generator head may be either 12 or 12.5 kw - I don't know how
to tell.
Any pointers as to where to find model information would be helpful.
Also, any general information about wiring diagrams for the
start/run/stop circuitry?
Thanks in advance
Carla

What you have is an Onan JC Series Genset. If it is Air Cooled, it will
be an Onan 12.5JC. If it is Water Cooled, it will be a 12.5RJC. Onan
built JC's with two different Genends, and you will need to get a someone
with Onan JC experience to look at yours to determine if you have a
"Magniciter"(Non-Brushless), or a "YD" (Brushless) on you unit.
There is an Excelent Board, for those who are looking for information on
Onan Gensets. <www.smokstak.com> Motors & Generators Forum - Old Onan

You might also post your query to rec.outdoors.rv-travel. Alan Robinson, a
regular
there, is an Onan service engineer and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the line.
