heh well be if nothing else you've started another endless power argument
thread -- I swear if all us alt.energy.homepower people just had a keg of
beer and a good fire to stand around the arguments would go into the dawn
but everyone would eventually end up saying 'i love you bro' kind of thing
:)

None the less there is a crazy amount of good information to be had here..
when I was building my micro-hydro system these guys helped me out BIGTIME.

It aint super cool and could be improved (i've been losing efficiency in
the last few months BTW .. i think a bearing on the pelton wheel shaft
might be out of wack after 3 years of use) .. but here it what I use to
power my house : http://www.homebrewhydro.com

which, these guys helped me with and made it better with some quality
advice.  Even though they tend to argue like mofos ;)

So I can say without reservation -- there are some SMART people on this
group who've helped me a lot.

Cheers to alt.energy.homepower

There is a lot personal considerations that goes into evaluating an
alternate-energy system, environmental concerns or self-sufficiency
concerns may have personal value to you and trying guess what the
price of energy will be in 30-40 years, energy costs will be higher,
but how much higher will effect the return-on-investment numbers also.

It's hard to compare an energy system without something to compare it
to, and here again, who knows what the future will bring for grid or
any other source of energy, so much depends on your view of the
future.

Paid 10k for solar, power company wanted 36k to connect me to the
grid. 26k ahead the day I turned the system on. Sounds good to me.
