off-the-grid, sustainable homebuilding technologies, issues, questions, and
so on.

   Or for that matter, what is wrong with this group?  If we continue to
segregate ourselvews into an infinite number of obsure groups, we (at minimum)
lose critical mass and access to a range of different experiences and opinions,
and (at worst) end up talking to ourselves.

    The last thing the world needs is yet another "new Yahoo group", or yet
another spammer trying to promote it.

 You should know the answer to your own question. Unmoderated lists like this
get jerks (you know who you are) who feel free to use abusive, gutter
language that others interpret as coming from trashy people. Moderated lists
avoid such jerks, thankfully. And spammers are not allowed on them, period.

Some of us prefer interacting with intelligent, educated people who speak
(write) professionally. Moderated yahoo lists avoid the garbage that too
often appears on these usenet groups--as I'm sure you already know but
apparently refuse to acknowledge.

 

   This is amazing!  Do you realize that most of us consider your post spam?
...and you are telling us that we should use your group to avoid spammers?
Spammers  like you?

   Further, many of us prefer Usenet precisely because it is free of moderators.
