More importantly in the discussions, I think, is how
the batteries on a car such as the Leaf can handle
the multiple deep discharges.
A hybrid such as the Prius sees batteries at 80% as
discharged, for the sake of battery life.

Incorporating supercapacitors will assist greatly. The original 1997 Prius
was have a supercapacitor. Capacitors have come along a bit since then.
