The California Fuel Cell Partnership Celebrates California'sFuel Cell
Vehicles Reaching Milestone Mileage As the California Fuel Cell
Partnership commemorates its eighth anniversary at its annual Earth
Day open house on April 21, the organization will also celebrate the
millionth mile the California fuel cell vehicle fleet odometer passed
earlier this month.

"Many Californians have had first-hand experience with fuel cell
technology by driving cars and riding in buses," said Catherine
Dunwoody, CaFCP's executive director. "Every mile on a fuel cell
vehicle represents a step towards commercialization, and illustrates
CaFCP members' commitment to sustainable alternative transportation in
California, and around the world."

CaFCP members have placed 179 fuel cell vehicles on California's roads
since 1999. Today, organizations such as the State of California, UC
Davis, AC Transit, South Coast Air Quality Management District and the
City of Chula Vista operate fuel cell vehicles in California fleet
demonstration programs. In Northern and Southern California, 24
hydrogen stations are operating with an additional 14 are in planning
in planning stages.

"Regular people drive the fuel cell vehicles and ride in fuel cell
buses every day," continued Ms. Dunwoody. "These drivers and
passengers love the vehicles and talk about how clean, quiet and well
performing the vehicles are. As a regular driver of a fuel cell
vehicle, I speak from my own experience as well."

Fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen fuel provide important benefits. Fuel
cell vehicles are highly efficient electric vehicles that create
electricity from hydrogen. The only emission is a bit of water vapor.
Hydrogen is a sustainable fuel and an excellent energy carrier.
Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are the ultimate solution to cleaning our
air, combating global warming and curbing our addiction to oil.

CaFCP is a collaboration of 31 organizations including auto
manufacturers, energy providers, fuel cell technology companies and
government agencies working together to promote the commercialization
of fuel cell vehicles.

find out how you can put miles on a
fuel cell vehicle yourself.

Exactly.  According to the movie "Who Killed The Electric Car" going from
electricity-hydrogen-electricity takes 3-4 times the input power of going
from electricity-battery-electricity for the same power output.
