Another earthquake in south-west China - measuring 6.8 - has killed 38
and injured more than 650 people.
Early reports indicated that the quake had destroyed more than a
quarter of a million homes and injured nearly 650 people. Aftershocks
continue to be felt.
China has sent 8,000 soldiers and military reservists on a search and
rescue mission to the mountainous region spanning the Sichuan and
Yunnan provinces.
The China Earthquake Administration reported an inter-ministerial
command post had been set up in the quake zone to coordinate
communications with food, water, medical supplies and tents being
rushed to the worst affected areas.
