there is probably a threshold of acceptable start delay as the Honda Inverter
senses
the additional power demand and ramps up the motor speed to deliver the
additional
power

perhaps the heatpump start capacitor takes care of the initial startup load
demand and
the half-second/one-second delay is not significant

I know what you mean about the lack of any guidance from Honda as I've read the
online
docs also and there is no guidance on when this feature should be used or not
and what
drawbacks may exist

It is nice if you have a very small demand, like running just cooling or heating
for
one room, some lights and tv and the unit slows down but also never revs up to
max
speed, especially useful at night for noise abatement

hopefully someone else knows from the electric components standpoint and can
advise
