When considering a wood fired stove, it is good to have a fan to help
circulation of the heat produced.

Is there a self powered fan that can be used for air circulation?

Stirling engine? Steam powered? Thermopile?

I am attempting to have a totally self contained heating system with
limited circulation capability.

Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

I have a small stove-top fan with a Peltier junction cell. Works quite
well.

Please, tell us more about it. Do you know who made it? Where you bought
it?
Is there any technical data, like how much power the Peltier cell produces?

I am looking for a way to drive a water-circulation pump during
power-outages. It pumps heat from the woodstove and, according to the manual,
the woodstove should not be used when the pump doesn't work. The stove is
our only source of heat...

No specs - not sure who made it, but it came from a Home Hardware
store. Most good wood stove shops up here can get them. It has 2 heat
sinks - one in the base, sits on the stove. The other is in the
airstream of the fan. The Peltier pile is between them. The bigger the
difference between the hot side and the cold side, the more power the
fan motor gets. The faster the fan runs, the bigger the temperature
differential. It can get up to quite a speed.
