I keep seeing comments about increasing insulation
and settling, but I haven't yet seen any mention of
Super Therm, a 3 or 4 ceramic paint developed for the
space shuttle that gives an R equivalent of 19 (RE-19)
for a 7 mil coating.  It seems like some kind of "sin"
for any of the resellers to mention a price online,
but I've e-mailed one of them to find that it goes for
about $1/sq.ft. in 5 gallon quantities.

Has anyone been quoted a better price, or used
Super Therm at all?

Been offered in several areas often by Homedepot.

The folk doing the application are as a matter of couse under applying the
materil to the point where HD has droped them as a supplier.

The product has now gained a rep for mouse milk and is basically a drug on
the maket.

Never heard of it but I'm interested.  Any URLs?

What does that work out to a gallon?

I first heard about it for applying to shipping
containers used for shop space to avoid the moisture
problems/condensation that seem to be endemic with
that sort of almost airtight steel enclosure.

Then saw a Bob Villa video where it's used on shipping
container homes in St. Petersburg, FL.

  The place I contacted was
http://superiorwest.com/SuperiorWest/page--SUPER  THERM.htm
but if you google/yahoo SuperTherm you get tens of
thousands of hits... seems that many of the sellers
are "associates" who just drop ship from the factory.

It works best as white, and the factory only does
colors in 60 gallon batches.  So if you don't like
white, and you don't need 60 gallons, you have to get
it colored locally.

I was quoted $100/gallon when ordered in a 5 gallon
bucket.  I asked about a price for one gallon cans
(easier to take in and get multiple colors for multiple
rooms) and was told it would be "about a 6 or 7 dollar
packaging fee per gallon."  (and add shipping from the
factory in Kansas)
A gallon covers 100 square feet when applied at the
recommended (dry) thickness of 7 mil.

Thanks.  I found the mfr's site after I posted the question:

Ouch!  I guess I'll wait for someone else to try it :-)  I'd blow a Franklin
for a gallon just to test but not a 5 gal bucket.  Oh well.
