I bought one of these small 200W grid tie inverters, but it wants
14-28V to work (from the PV panels). I'd like it a lot more if it
would work from 11V up. Anyone else have one? I'm going to give it a
good visual inspect and try to see if any part of it seems
understandable. Wouldnt it be neat if I could change a resistor value
and have it work from a battery bank?

In your DREAMS, Dude....

So you think that commercial items are impossible to modify in
general, or do you think I'm just too stupid to do the modification
myself?

The one I ordered came today and I connected it to my 24 volt battery
bank. I used a kill-o-watt meter (which seems to measure power in
both directions) and it was putting 233 watts back into the grid. I
turned off everything in the house and my outside meter actually
slowly spun backwards for the first time ever. My amp meter showed
about 10.8 amps @25.2 volts. This was at dusk so the volts will go up
during the day and may provide more output. The unit has a max input
voltage of 35vdc and output of 250 watts as written on the back. The
internal fan would cycle and the unit became warm. I ran it like for
about 30 minutes before disconnecting. I plan on using it under relay
control as an extra load when the batts are full and the solar panels
have more to give. I wasn't ready to spend the $2500 needed to
properly connect a big grid interactive inverter, not yet.
