The maximum efficiency is achieved by placing the blade perpendicular to the
flow. Near center, you see a circular fins in concentric circles, for
aerodynamic reasons. These fins create channels that collect and divert the
flow.

Tilt the blade body may be advisable to adjust the speed (decrease the power
converted).

This blade model has generated much more power (8X) than a traditional blade
of the same diameter (NACA 4412, 15 angle) in the wind tunnel. This is
demonstrable.

The blade profile can be narrower than a traditional blade. Instead, the
chord of the blade is wide, for maximum power.

The diameter of the turbine could be significantly less, to generate the
same power as a conventional turbine. All this is being tested now.

Again, for people who have doubts, it is easy to construct a model of the
blade and try it on a generator. The results may surprise you.

  Long narrow blades are more efficient than short fat ones.  Do some
research on Aspect Ratio.
