It is the time of year when it's cold out and I get a steady 15-25mph
wind.  Is there a simple way to just go direct from a wind generator
to a heater.  The faster the wind, the more heat.  Simple.

Depends on your voltage, some guys simply dump the load into a water
heater element.

There's actually a simpler method, if what you want is heat from wind -
direct heating of water (or other liquid) by mechanical agitation - no
electricity involved - shaft from turbine goes through lid of tank,
stirring arms on shaft. Work well with VAWT.

I can confirm that pumping or agitating water heats it up as I have the
scars from 2nd and spotty 3rd degree burns on my lower left leg to prove it.
I was pumping water in a closed loop consisting of the water pump out of a
30 year old Maytag clothes washing machine and the drain hose with the pump
running at roughly 6x its design RPM and the water got so hot that it
started to boil and blew the hose off which sprayed the boiling water on my
leg.  I would have to agree that simply directly stirring/agitating/pumping
the water with the windmill would be the easiest method.

Search for: "Calorius Wind Turbine". It does exactly that. Made in Denmark.
