Could you supply a name of a crank up tower.

EZ-Way towers, Aluma Towers and others. (Not sure of formatting of EZ-Way name,
but I am close) Look on amateur radio boards for used, such as;
http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?t 2745 or the usual web resources for
new.
Remember that a wind turbine will present a high wind load to the tower. You
will likely need guy wires even if the tower is advertised as "self supporting".

Hello, Drew.
I know exactly what you mean about working on a wind system on the ground. I
have the same thoughts as you. Climbing a 80' guyed lattice to do blade or
yaw drive inspection and/or maintenance, sounds like no fun to me, so a
lay-over type is what I would like.
Here's a site that gives a little insight.

Good luck.
