If you have a house with windows facing the sun, does this stuff make a
difference?
I'm referring to the stuff you can purchase at Home Depot and claims 70%
reduction.

Was installed at my son's house on a double story upper window and made a
big difference in heat gain. They, and we can notice the differnce in the
heat distribution. Expensive stuff, though.

It is supposed to keep more heat in, also. Not sure about that one but
certain wavelength filtering apparently  works for window coatings and gas
fill. The direct sun is one wavelength and the reflected heat from is is
another wavelength, allowing this concept to work.

The stuff is not insulation, it works by blocking or reflecting light.  (Which
means that it must be working against you in the winter)  If you already have
awnings and/or reflective curtains that are already doing that same job, I doubt
if you will see much difference.

One thing to consider: Some window manufacturers specifically state
that putting film on windows will void any warranty. Just sayin'.

Best to check with the company and make sure.

Had the stuff professionally installed on about 250 feet of 8 ft high
windows across the front of our office building and within less than 3
days we had 5  broken windows - which the installer had to replace.
These were 42-48" wide 8 foot high sealed double pane units.

They HAVE made some difference in the interior temperatures. (reduced
the heat gain somewhat)
