I live in northeast Massachusetts and am building a two story 700 sq
ft. addition to my 1,100 to 1,200 sq. ft. home. I plan to install a
high efficiency non-catalytic wood stove on the ground floor of the
addition. There will be one floor/ceiling vent in the ceiling where the
stove is, as well as an open space on the rest of the ground floor of
the existing house. This way (I'm thinking), the heat will travel up
the central stairwell. The addition will be insulated; the rest of the
house is not (except the attic, which has blown in cellulose
insulation).
I need advice on calculating the size of stove to buy. I'd much rather
go a little small than too large. Do I simply add the existing square
footage to the new and buy a stove that is rated for that amount of
space? Seems too simple.
I've narrowed stove choices (so far) to these:
Morso 1440
Lopi Patriot
Jotul F100 Nordic QT
(maybe) Jotul F 118 Black Bear
All are designed to heat between around 600 to 1,000 square feet, which
fits my space. The Lopi is a steel stove.
Does anyone own any of these stoves? Are they reliable, well-made,
long-lasting, etc.?
Thank you very much for your comments.

Which way does it face? How about solar heat from a sunspace?

South. Solar is not an option for now.

1) Because I say so. 2) Because my post is asking for wood stove
advice.
