Does anybody have experience with the Generac EPS 5-AC 5kw generator?
I understand that Generac no longer makes this, but there are still a
few around, and I am thinking of buying one as backup power for a few
emergency circuits for my home. I like its small size. Does anybody
know why they stopped making it? Were there problems?

I had 6 generacs on a construction site, only week they all worked was the
first one. This was our only method of power, not taking care of them was
not acceptable. Each week I would get one repaired and another one would
fail. Always the same issue. The motors seized due to lack of lubrication.
The generac rep came out countless times to see if I had them out of level
or was not taking care of them. Wrong! These were all Tecumseh motors. I
do not remember what model they were but the size is right.
I am sure that others have had better experiences. You asked right
Unless your going to steal it; I would walk on down the line. IMHO

Generac uses B&S or their own motor now Whatever you get be sure it
has voltage regulation. EXL models have it.
