Well beemerwanker, I’m glad they gave you your computer back. That detective was
very nice. Although
I was surprised that you asked him to get in touch with me for a character
reference. Of course I
told him that you were truly a character but doubted that you could hack
anything other than a
finger. He was of the same opinion.

But that is not why I am writing. My mission now is to share a web site, that I
came across, with
the readers in these groups.

People will not believe this site, it is a piss-cutter. Of course they will have
to be quick, as I
have a feeling it will disappear  quite soon.

The url is <http://www.northernmichigansolar.com/>

But, be warned people, grab a handful of tissues, you will need them to wipe the
tears of laughter
away so you can see the sights.

This site is the epitome of Self-Delusion and Self-Aggrandisement Syndrome.

If you open the site  you can follow this tour of mirth.

Start with the home page and scroll down to near the bottom of the page where
you will find a small
box with the heading
“How I test”

It reads as follows:

“Look, using testing equipment is all well and good but those spec sheets don't
mean squat if you
can't run YOUR stuff for as long as you want to. So what I do (so you don't have
to) is get the
equipment (batteries, inverters, solar panels) and put what I run on it. Usually
about 30-50 watts
at 12 volts or a few amps draw. You know, turning lights on and off, running a
computer (a laptop)
and whatnot.”

By the time we get through with the tour of this site it will be clear that this
is just deluded
self aggrandisement.

So let’s go the the page “A trip to the cabin”. What  hoot Pics of the highway
and dead trees.
Christ almighty, what possessed this person to even waste the time. Then at the
bottom are his
attempts at art.

Next stop,”Xantrex Charge Controller” where we are treated to this little bit of
wisdom

“My new charge controller is here. This is Xantrex C12, a 25 amp version of
their C controllers.
This particular model features Pulse Wave Modulation (PWM) charging. It has
field settings for bulk
charging, absorption charging and float charging. It also has settings for
automatic equalization
(or it can be done manually by pushing a switch). Unique to the C12 is a feature
that will turn on
12 volt lights at night, what they call the "nite-lite" feature.”

“Unique” he says, what a load of old cobblers. Plasmatronics has had this
feature for as long as
their PL series have been on the market.

Next “Death of a battery” This page might be of value if it weren't for the fact
that none of the
equipment mentioned would ever be considered for a serious home power system.
Shit, most of what is
mentioned is automotive.  The last, being the 75Ah alleged deep cycle battery.
Hardly an item that
would be welcome in any serious home power supply.

Well let us move onto “About the system” perhaps there is some intelligent
information here.

Nope, sorry if I got your hopes up. Starts off with parallel battery bank made
up of two different
battery capacities and ages.

Look, here we have “Photos of my system” perhaps we can find some something
useful here. My God!
This is unbelievable. Why would anybody bother to set up panels where they don’t
even get sun on
them in the middle of the day.

Ah, here we go the “Battery bank set-up”, the heart of a system. Surely there
must be something
worth the bandwidth here.

Oh shit, this is a joke, right? No I’m sorry. This is meant to be. It seems that
the builder of this
system uses very badly trained rats to do his wood work. For bit of cheese they
will chew wood into
shape. And why for gods sake is the inverter mounted in the battery box. And I
would swear that the
rat that chewed the hole for the inverter was drunk at the time. It is clear
that the picture of his
dock was taken after he did the repairs.

Well lets try “Battery wiring” and see if things improve. Things sure have
gotten funnier. If you go
the the bottom of this page you will find “I've decided to do this” This being a
link to a wiring
diagram, have a look at this wiring diagram, you will be amazed, astounded and
laughing your ass off.

Well here is an item that should yield some useful information, “Installation”.
But wait what’s
this, there is a neat part to the whole shebang. This is what it says:

“The installation of the panels has is done! I installed them along the side of
the cabin so they
get around 4 hours of sun a day. The panels at 90 watts will charge the battery
bank from around 65
- 70% charge to over 90% over the course of the solar day. Herre's the neat
part. In the afternoon,
there's another 2 hours of sun. But the panels face south. So, I have two
reflectors that reflect
the sunlight for this time of day only that boosts the output by 20% to within
30% of direct sun
output. For final topping off, I use a small generator. This generator is a 1000
watt output
connected to a Vector smartcharger.”

Come on! If the panels were in the correct position there should be no time when
they are in shade
or require reflectors to work. This is, after all in the northern hemisphere and
it is claimed that
the panels face south.

And it gets even funnier than that. As can be seen there is a fan that runs off
a separate battery,
Why is this?

Then there is the section “Household current” What the hell is actually being
run here.

Then to top it all off the poster says he is not going to pay the phone company.
Well I ask you, who
provides the cell phone service if not a telco?

“Wiring the cabin” is our next stop. And what do we find?

2 Sets of HF toy panels and the real source of the cabins energy supply, a 1000
watt 110 volt, 10
amp 12 volt gen set.

Next “Appliances for cabins” This is what the man says;

“I now run my 12 volt fans from a 20 amp hour gel battery; this lasts for 4 days
before the battery
needs charging.”

“Some of the appliances that I purchase are 12 volt or propane. For instance,
for ventilation and
cooling in the summer, I purchased a fan that runs  either on 12 volts of D
cells or battery bank
power. The solar charge controller I got has outputs and adaptors for 12 volts
direct from the
battery bank.”

“Our lighting consists of two voltages of the same type. I use Compact
Fluorescent 12 volt bulbs (5
watts each x 4), 2 from the battery bank and 2 from a small AGM battery. For
brighter light, I use
General Electric Compact Fluorescent bulbs, which are the best; they use the
least power and provide
rated light. I've tried several brands but GE seems to be the way to go.”

“My stove is a 2 burner with a grill from Harbor Freight. This works either off
of a 20 lb or
standard small propane bottle. Currently, for heating water, I use a pan on the
stove. Plans are to
build a solar water heater and plumb it into a small water heater that uses
propane”

“The current television that I have is a small 12 inch that uses 20 watts to
start and 10 while
running, sometimes dropping below 10 watts.”

“By now you're probably wondering about our well. Well, we don't have one. I
store a few hundred
gallons of water on site and transport it as needed. The reasoning is simple (to
me); when the home
was first built the water table was 20 feet. Now it's almost 90 feet because
every idiot that builds
up here just starts pumping as much water as they can from the ground.”

By now you are probably wondering what the hell this guy is on about.

Separate batteries for fans,

Separate batteries for lights

It would appear that his system won’t run anything without extra batteries that
are, we are left to
guess, either recharged from the gen set or taken home and charged from the
mains.

Honestly, given the laughable state of the whole installation, from the pathetic
wood work, through
to the total lack of design, it is painfully obvious that the owner is well out
of his depth.

Remember this from the home page?

“Look, using testing equipment is all well and good but those spec sheets don't
mean squat if you
can't run YOUR stuff for as long as you want to. So what I do (so you don't have
to) is get the
equipment (batteries, inverters, solar panels) and put what I run on it. Usually
about 30-50 watts
at 12 volts or a few amps draw. You know, turning lights on and off, running a
computer (a laptop)
and whatnot.”

Absolute top notch comedy. A not to be missed site. So come along and laugh
yourself shitless.

George,

How's it compare to your website?

First of all my site is not on topic for these groups.

Second, beemerwankers workmanship can be compared to mine at;

<http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j103/GGhio/>

Third, beemerwankers workmanship as presented on his site is representative of
his ability.

Example: Claims that panels face south. If this is true then the Reflectors
would be facing north.

Truth is that the panels were placed incorrectly in the first place

Example: Inverter mounted in corrosive environment.

Not exactly an intelligent decision by ant stretch of the imagination.

Example: Separate batteries to run fans and some lights.

You would have to be joking. Doesn't his system work that he needs to run things
off batteries that
he takes home again to recharge?

The man is deluded.

No.  You're criticizing web sites, yours is fair game.

How does yours compares?

What the URL?

George, don't tell me you're going to run away?

beemerwanker is just about as deluded as one can get if he thinks his work is
beyond that of a
dyslexic eight year old. The web site is fine and the content is a master piece
of comedy. I
commented on the content, not the site.

There is no comparison what so ever. No carpentry, solar, wiring, reflectors or
batteries.

The subject is off topic for this group.

Nah, walking away sedately, laughing my ass off. You might think bw's site is a
marvel and wish you
could do as well, but first you have to train the rat.

If you want to compare work then you can find some of mine at
