my unit is a northstar 8000 PPG with honda GX390 engine (13hp, 6600w continuous,
8000w
max)
this is the owners manual
http://www.northerntool.com/downloads/manuals/165914.pdf
the unit has a starter and I've used a brand new, automotive battery, sears
diehard
(cost about $90)
once every two months, I connect a battery minder device which trickle charges
and
desulfates the plates for a week or two weeks.
does it matter which type of battery I use? the owners manual did not specify
and the
car battery works fine, starts in 1 or 2 seconds.

The honda manual covers most anything related to the engine itself
