sure the hybrids are bigger more roomy but they don't get any more gas
mileage than older cars. in a time when gas prices are high like they are
more mileage would be nice. don't get me wrong I just bought a 2005 Saturn
relay. since I owned my geo I now have a family of 5. it is rated at 24 mpg.
to compensate this thanksgiving we made a 300 mile trip I dropped my speed
to 63 instead of 75 mile per hour.with a 1 hour delay in traffic I averaged
30.miles per gallon.
i am sorry for the misunderstanding I meant my geo got better mph so it
produced less emissions than the hybrid.I was thinking that the emissions
for the hybrid was the selling point. thanks for the reply.

It is. Your geo when tested especially in city driving would produce
a lot more emmissions than a hybrid. City driving is where hybrids
shine the most.

I HAVE READ THAT HYBRIDS TEND TO LOOSE THEY'RE EFFIENTCY ON THE HIGHWAY.
BECAUSE THE MOTORS TEND TO BE UNDER POWERED. ( NOT ALL). WHEN YOU ARE ON THE
HIGHWAY THE ELECTRIC MOTOR CANNOT RUN AS EFFECTIVELY.SO YOU ARE RUNNING A
BIGGER CAR WITH A SMALLER MOTOR ON THE HIGHWAY.I GUESS WHAT I AM SAYING IS
MOST PEOPLE TEND TO BY BIGGER CARS FOR ROAD TRIPS.BECAUSE THE RIDE IS
BETTER.IF WE ARE LOOKING AT MILES PER GALLON IN THE CITY.I THINK YOU ARE
RIGHT.HOWEVER THAT BIG PIRUS CAT PARK EVERYWHERE THAT TINY LITTLE METRO CAN.
HA HA... JUST JOKING. BY THE WAY I DO MOST HIGHWAY DRIVING.

Doesn't lose efficiency, just doesn't have all the power some might
want over a steady state. Frankly, this argument is bogus here in the
midwest; it keeps up with traffic, and'll do 9 over the 70mph limit
without running out of juice. Its mileage advantage is less on the
highway, but our prius can still get 50mpg on a 220 mile highway trip.
Besides that, you don't have to shift it, and can haul four adults
without any of them griping about running out of room.
If you want something really efficient to haul one person on the
highway, forget the car and buy a motorcycle.

And the Prius will probably last more then 4-5 years
also.
