There's a nutbar in this neighborhood who drives a lime-green Metro, with
one of those loud "muscle car" tail pipes and a huge airfoil - mounted on
the roof because there's no trunk.
Even if you can make it walk like a duck and quack like a duck, sometimes
you just don't get a duck...

I agree, they do little better on gas mileage than a small car. On a
typical Harley, the EPA mpg was 39/49, with a 1540 CC engine. That thing costs
some $16,000!

I don't know where that comes from. The V-twin engine is asymmetric
radially, and therefore idles with a characteristic "loping" sound. AFAIK, it
has no more problem idling than any other motorcycle engine.

Of course, that is what sells it.

Get more than its EPA mpg? Not with any regularity.

Bullshit, motorcycle engines are not covered by the same emissions laws
as cars and are far dirtier. With a Harley the engine (1200-1400cc)is
almost as big as what's in the Prius @1500cc.

On what do you base that assumption? Motorcycles don't have the emissions
controls that cars have.

YOU ARE NOT GAINING YOU ARE MIRLY BREAKING EVEN ON THE MILEAGE ISSUE.GIVE ME
A CAR THAT WILL GET 70 TO 90 MPG I WILL BY IT. I THINK THE STUDY I LOOKED AT
WAS A CIVIC.BUT FOR A PENNEY A MILE IT IS NOT WORTH IT. LIKE I SAID
100000MILE BEFORE YOU START SAVE MONEY ON THE OPTION YOU BOUGHT.IF YOU DON'T
DRIVE THE CAR THAT FAR IN MY OPINION YOU MIGHT AS WELL GIVE YOUR MONEY TO
HONDA. THAT IS MY POINT. SAVE MONEY DECREASE POLLUTION . AND HAVE A
SATISFACTORY VEHICLE.
