Gee, why would you hate someone for bringing you a product at a price
you can afford, giving others a job, paying taxes to provide services you
couldn't
provide for yourself, and paying into the social security system so others
can
live a better life while not producing. If that is your attitude you might
want to rethink it.

Not true. Especially not true if you just want to get online. There are
cheap and free OS and software options out there.

OK, You said it. You can get something like Red Hat OS, assorted free
browsers, and even Open Office. While I still am working wit XP (because it
works and because I have it and because I am lazy) there *are* other options
out there.
Also, just to prove there is a free market out there; if we don't like
paying Microsoft, we always have the option of paying even more for Apple
products.

Recently I was able to get a client in a remote office to install centos
(redhat enterprise clone) via instructions over the phone and get them on
line -- the modern linux distros are getting pretty user friendly. Once
he had ssh up I was able to shell in and get the thing back up and
running (it was used as a file/print server in an office and the primary
HD took a dump, and I didn't want to drive 2 hours to fix it)

The only reason I use xp and vista is because i need a test environment
and to play fallout 3. And read usenet ;)
All the real work gets done on linux

What's xp and vista? ;-)

There are MANY newsreaders for Linux/Unix.

Everything gets done on Linux/FreeBSD Unix. I don't
even know or care what that MS crap does or doesn't do.
Don't hate Bill Gates... just wouldn't have his OS on
any hardware I own. For any reason.

"Stole", isn't quite the right word for what happened.... "Bought
Exclusive License to Refine and Market" is what really happened, and
just because the folks who actually wrote DOS, sold this License, "Cheap"
doesn't equate to "Stole"..... Shrewd dealing, for sure, but "Stole"
Nope..... Not in this lifetime...
