'mass production' will push the price down isn't likely to reduce costs by a few

Yes it is, chargers, controllers, motors are all compact versions of
those used in cars. The technology in some of these scooters is impressive.

Not compared to traditional deep cycle lead acid batteries for electric
vehicle usage. The cost of a replacement battery for the Prius has
dropped substantially from $,500 when it first came out to:
Gen I Prius (00 – 03 MY) $,299.
Gen II (04 – 08 MY) $,588.
