Toyota recommends shifting into neutral when the throttle goes
to WOT by itself. The unloaded overspeeding engine will likely
destroy itself in an instant and seize. Then the power assist to
steering and brakes will fail and the car will crash anyway. If
by some miracle it doesn't, will Toyota replace the now ruined
engine free of charge and with a smile on their faces OR blame
the blown engine on driver abuse and tell the owner to eat shit
and die?

Personally, I've not had any vehicle that was fuel injected (Petrol or
Diesel) that wasn't governed, and they all have flatlined at or just
below the red line by either the governor restricting the fuel per
injection or by off-loading cylinders (misfiring) in the last 30+ years.
