We have unique names for each petroleum distillate. In some cased the names
we use are different from the names you use. Only a buffoon would find this
strange given our planet's numerous languages and dialects.

They walk about with donkeys attached so they don't
actually need to walk was my understanding. Their
donkeys must come free with a fast food supersize
option :-p
Seriously though some USA terms are more meaningful than
ours/English , and I use what has clearest meaning.
Gas and ass ain't two of them as is their incorrect
non-descriptive overuse of "the"
Doesn't petrol go to a more a vapour stage? gasoline
seems a bit suspect too.
On "the" ... and it's creeping into .AU too:
"Go visit the library ..." Huh? which library?
"Go visit a library ..." or "go visit the {insert name of} library"
