Actually, the back seats are around the same size. The Prius has some extra
leg room that could offer a slight advantage if you're a 7 foot tall circus
escapee.

According to Toyota, the Prius has much more rear seat hip room as well.

I quoted these exact figures in another post a couple of days ago.
Hip room: Corolla 53.0 inches. Prius 52.7 inches.
The 7 inches you make out to be incredibly significant is only in the back
seat, and spread across three passengers that's a tad over an inch per side
per person.
Hardly the difference between small and large :)
