Late last month I drove my new (<1k miles) 2005 from New Jersey to Las
Vegas.
The segment leading up to Albuquerque (I-40) was almost all uphill and I had
the cruise control on 83 (speed limit 75). The only negative was that the
battery meter went down to one bar! But that was fixed as soon as I started
heading downhill.
No overheating, no problems at all.

The computers don't let anything bad happen to the engine. If the
computers fail you're screwed instantly anyway, so there's no point in
worrying about it. Just remember to pull over and stop immediately if
you ever see the triangle of death.
