My Prius arrived at the dealer today, making my wait time 4 weeks.  I'm
planning on picking it up tomorrow after work.  It is a small dealer in
western Virginia.

I stopped by after work today to have a look at it.  It is a silver, 2005,
package 4 Prius.  The seats are still covered with plastic, as is the hood.
The paint seems to be none the worse for the road trip from the factory to
the port and from the port to the dealer.  There were a couple of other
trailers being unloaded at the dealer, but I think that mine was the only
Prius.  It seems to have come in through a port in New Jersey.

I hope everyone else here who is expecting one this week gets theirs also.

Most of the Toyotas on the East Coast come through TLS Newark, unless
there is something 'special' that gets trucked from Calif (VERY rare these
days...) or, uh, New Orleans....

Now, years ago, some were 'deported' in Boston, but it seems they have
closed that TLS and all are coming through Newark now. I believe there was
also one in Norfolk or thereabouts. Since Toyota has a more efficient
distro system in the US with the opening of US plants more units are
trucked or railed than before.

Seems that Virginia is the furthest south TLS Newark serves. Said they

Congratulations!  Be sure to post your impressions when you
start driving it!  Four weeks wasn't so bad, given the wait
times I was quoted.

In the DC area, from the day I called until the day I picked mine up, it was
just around 2 weeks!  Granted, I didn't get my first choice of options (I
wanted package #4 just like Paul), but I had to settle for package #6.
Darn.  I did get it in the color I wanted too (Tideland Pearl).  Where I
work, I'm the only one with that color.

Now that I've had it for 4 days, I love it!  It's fun to drive.  It handles
very nice.  The sound system is great.  I'm still learning the details of
the Nav. system.  All we need now, is a compatible Bluetooth phone and we'll
be all set.  I can't wait to take it to Florida over Christmas.  That will
be great.  I've got about 170 miles on it now.  When we took it for a test
drive, it had 2 on it!  Thus, for the 170 miles, I've averaged around 42
MPG.  It's going up too, since I've been routinely hitting 49-50 on the
"consumption" page, going to and from work.

I've been talking about getting this car for several years now.  I'm glad I
finally did it.  I hated to trade my Wrangler in, but my 40 mile commute was
just eating away at my wallet more than I cared for.
