Based solely on the number of questions posted here and in other Prius
forums about the "wirring sound" I'd say yes, he is making a contribution.
Don't the whiners have anything better to do?

Yes, he's making a contribution all right. It's wrong as easily proven
by european Priuses that whirr without having the thermal can for
coolant, but let's give him an A for effort.
